Why This Conference Is a Must-Attend Event
Your marriage merits dedicated time, focus, and the resources necessary for flourishing—and this weekend provides all that! Participate in two transformative days featuring the Art of Marriage video series and guided discussions led by Dr. Ed and Dr. Donna Welch. This series equips couples with biblical principles aimed at strengthening their marriages. This series is designed to assist couples in comprehending God's design for marriage and in implementing those principles in their daily lives. The third day concludes with a powerful sermon delivered by Bishop George Hawkins, Jr.
FRIDAY NIGHT | 7:00 PM:
On Friday, we will have a dinner conversation and learn that marriage is meant to reflect God's steadfast love. That steadfast love is not just something God does – it's who He is. And as we live out a commitment to love our spouses, even in their weaknesses and imperfections, we bear the very image of God. We continue that evening, learning that in marriage, God joins husband and wife together and that joining together includes hope and love. Still, it also includes baggage and differing backgrounds and expectations. Amid these tensions and challenges, it takes great intentionality to move towards Oneness with God and one another rather than to drift toward Isolation.
SATURDAY | 9:00 AM:
Saturday, we return, starting with a continental breakfast and a couple of games. Then, we lean into the series around Agape. Realizing we all change. If love is merely a feeling whose object is changing, it cannot endure. The biblical vision of love goes beyond a feeling: It is a love that prioritizes the good of another, just like the love that God has shown us.
We will explore conflict. Conflict within marriage is inevitable. It can breed bitterness and contempt when we handle it poorly or avoid it altogether. But when we handle it humbly and forgive one another as God has forgiven us, conflict can lead us toward growth and Oneness.
After lunch, we will discuss intimacy. We often think intimacy in marriage should be automatic, but many things can stand in the way. As we grow in understanding our spouses and seeking their interests, we can develop deeper intimacy.
We will wrap up the video series by understanding that being married on a mission may be intimidating—like an extra assignment only intended for the top of the class. But the people around us need to see pictures of steadfast love, repentance, and forgiveness in our marriage.
